Anneau Ecstasy

Anneu Ecstasy is my third in the series of space art, after which I did essentially stop space art for quite some time. I'll pursue making more in a while. In this space art, I wanted to show the how the secondary light source(the one visible) lightens up the nebulae, but not the planets. The primary source itself is so bright. In some way it says that when your goals are focused, nothing in the universe can dither your decisions!

Celestial Bliss

This is my first ever attempt at digital painting. Was just experimenting with a starfield at first. When it was coming out okay, i decided to add in the planet. Then played around a bit for giving the nebulae kind of feel. I liked the violet color, for the planet, it added the element of mystery to it. The final result is what you see here. This artwork is what triggered the making of other space arts!

Terra Sanctuaire

About Terra Sanctuaire (Space Art)

This is one of my earliest digital paintings and undoubtedly my very first Space Art. The approach to this particular genre of painting is quite different compared to the most other forms of digital paintings. Notably because the technique for this form of art relies mostly upon powerful tools of Adobe Photoshop that help you create a lot of Space stuff with relative ease. Although, a deep eye for composition is required, it is still relatively different from the precision required while sketching portraits.

The Making of Terra Sanctuaire

Thus, for Terra Sanctuaire here, I began with making a good looking star field. You’ll be surprised to learn how fast you can make great star fields in Adobe Photoshop in a matter of minutes. Just by following a couple of digital painting tutorials such as Greg Martin’s creating a star field tutorial. My very first star field was ready, complete with stupendous and real looking halos, celestial glows and space dust. This lively star field formed the very base for my first ever space art.

One of the wonderful things about digital painting in Photoshop is that you can re-use each and everything you create every once in a while. This particularly helps a lot in a form of digital painting called matte painting. In this case, the star field I created was used a bit in the rest of my space arts as well. Of course I tweaked and played around with it a bit so that it doesn't look repetitive, but that sure does save a lot of time rather than making the entire star field again. In a way, it gives you more time to focus on the main things you would like to involve in your artwork.

Once the star field was ready, I got about making a planet in mind. I wanted this planet to give a very earthly feel. I wanted something like the earth, but not completely like the real earth. Once again I got about following some planet tutorials. It gave me a nice looking earth like planet having decent atmosphere, earth-like terrain and some huge water bodies. This is when this space art was coming to life. I got in some hues, some nebulae like features to give it a lively look.

I wanted to fit in a theme to this composition. Something like the earth playing the role of a guardian. Thus I got in a moon. Thus there it was, the earth guarding the moon. I got is some more effects, tweaked with the colors and the saturation and lo the Digital Painting is ready, a Space Art ready to be devoured!!

here's a poem that I'd penned down inspired from space artworks from other popular artists.

About art of nik

Art of Nik:

Art of Nik is dedicated to bring you the latest on the paintings and art works painted by digital artist Nik. Nikhil Bijai, more popularly known by his alias 'Nik', started about digital painting only recently when one of his friends lent him a Genius Tablet. It was not definitely much, but with the tablet he began trying out some sketches in Photoshop. Initially he had not much luck with art on the computer, but things began to change as he kept his intent strong.

Nik had a creative eye for art ever since he could remember. He has unusual sketching skills. His art works included everyday objects that he may come across. Every now and then you could find him drawing away to glory with his ball point pen or 4 HB Pencil. He never really tried his hand on real painting. More so because his past and present academic backgrounds had not provided him enough time to do so. But when he got this Tablet, he started playing around with it and discovered he had a little talent for digital painting art works with the help of Photoshop.
No sooner did he get the hang of it; Nik started making out some decent art works. He started out with some Space Arts where he started playing around with star fields, planets and celestial objects. Photoshop has helped Nik coming a long way in his art.

Nik is a novice Digital Artist and aims to make it huge in the digital painting segment of the industry. Nik has not undergone any professional fine art courses, but that didn't stop him to take out a pencil and start sketching. As soon as he got in some art works under his belt, he wanted the world to know it. What better way than to set up a blog!

Thus he came up with 'art of Nik' to provide his friends and everybody else a blog where they can check up what is the latest from their very own digital artist Nik! Nik is highly inspired from Ubisoft Concept Artists that is the source of his motivation and dedication!
We at Art of Nik are thankful for you feedback and comments. Those continually help Nik to grow into a better Digital Artist. Nik himself shall be updating the ‘art of Nik’ as he comes up with new artworks. He has planned this to be initially on a weekly basis.

Sit back, and have a pleasant time going through all the art works in art of Nik!
